Sazvar Sazeh Azarestan factory located in Shamsabad industrial estate in Tehran province, has experienced one of the most different “Read with Me” projects since 2014. In the library of Azarestan, workers borrow books for their children every week, and after reading them aloud at home, they return them and take new books home.
Workers’ connection to the library has made their families interested in books and reading. The trained librarian of this library, Ms. Sahar Ghiasi, is ready to answer and guide fathers every day. Also, Ms. Elahe Siavashian, one of the “Read with Me” experts, is constantly supervising the work of the library and the librarian.
A number of mothers (from families of factory workers) have become acquainted with simple reading aloud techniques, reading techniques for infants, and creative procedures for basic literacy instruction through literature.
These activities have been carried out with the support of the factory management, especially Mrs. Parvin Amini, the cultural director of Azarestan Group.
Azarestan Library has 342 children and adolescents members (related to 310 families) that can use 4145 books (3396 books for children and teenagers and 749 books for adults).
The library currently has books for learning of story writing for children and adolescents, teaching English to children and adolescents, and teaching to mothers to enhance the auditory intelligence of their children.
